Dallas-based artist Jordan Black (she/they) uses their drawing and writing practices to learn about The Ubiquitous, a hive-minded entity that roams The Underbelly. As the sole observer of these creatures, Black’s drawings and prose of breathing architecture become a map of the misguided violence among a clan whose conscience is unfamiliar. It often parallels Black’s desire for a more electric reality that is less antagonistic toward queer existence. As a result, their work is as much an homage to pulp fantasy, nature, coping, and occasionally, celebrating being alive in a human body.

Jordan Black received her Masters of Fine Arts from the University of North Texas in May 2020, as well as her certification in Museum Education. She has instructed courses in foundational and figure drawing, as workshops for students, educators, and artists.
